Disclaimer

A tip calculator can do the arithmetic. It can't read the room, and it doesn't try to.

Suggestions, Not Rules

Every percentage on this site, in the presets and in the guide, reflects common custom rather than any obligation. Service quality, local practice and your own judgment all matter more than a default button. Tipping more, less or differently than any number shown here is entirely legitimate.

Customs Vary

The ranges described here follow general US practice. Elsewhere the norms can be completely different: some countries include service in the bill, some consider tipping unusual, and some venues add gratuity automatically. When you're away from home or the receipt already lists a service charge, check before you double up.

Not Financial Advice

Nothing on this site is financial, legal or tax advice. The calculator does honest arithmetic on the numbers you give it, and the decisions built on that arithmetic are yours.
